Overview
Dr Sarah Lum will explore menopause as a whole-person experience, highlighting its wide-ranging effects on mood, cognition, and overall wellbeing. This talk will broaden traditional perspectives by considering the emerging concept of menopause in men, and how midlife hormonal changes can impact health across populations.
With an interdisciplinary focus, Dr Lum will also discuss how menopause may present differently in neurodivergent individuals, offering insights into more inclusive and responsive approaches to care. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of menopause as a complex, evolving area of health with relevance across multiple fields.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this event, participants should be able to:
- Understand the broad physiological and psychosocial impacts of menopause on health, wellbeing, and daily functioning.
- Recognise emerging perspectives on menopause in men and the implications of midlife hormonal changes across populations.
- Identify how menopause may present differently in neurodivergent individuals and consider inclusive, interdisciplinary approaches to support.

Dr. Sarah Lum
About the presenter(s)
Dr. Sarah Lum is an endocrinologist with a background in pharmacy who later trained in medicine at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne. She has completed advanced training across Austin Health and Monash Health, holds a Masters of Medicine, and is a Fellow in endocrinology.
She currently works as a clinical consultant at Monash Medical Centre and Juno Healthcare, and is undertaking a PhD with Monash University and the Hudson Institute. Her work focuses on hormonal health, with clinical interests spanning women’s health, andrology, and metabolic and endocrine disorders, alongside a research focus on improving care in regional communities.

Target Audience
This event is aimed at psychologists, social workers, mental health workers, and medical professionals in the Albury/Wodonga/Wangaratta area.

- This is a Member Groups event. All communication will be sent to the registrants’ registered email address. This includes event reminders with details (such as the Venue details) and any pre-event or post-event resources, if provided by the facilitators.
- A post-event email will be sent within two weeks of the event’s completion to each registrant’s registered email address. This email will include the CPD certificate, and any additional resources shared during the session.
- Parking is available onsite. Presentation to begin at approximately 6:30pm, food and drinks to be served from 6pm.
