Positive Psychology Treating Depression
|Description||While the field of positive psychology is young, many studies are beginning to confirm that Positive Psychology Interventions (PPIs) can significantly improve the well-being of many as well as decrease depressive symptoms.
Over the last few years PPIs have been implemented in treatment of a variety of mental disorders. PPIs have been found to be particularly useful for addressing a paucity of positive affect, engagement and life meaning that characterise depression. For example, depressed individuals are likely to benefit from increases in positive emotions. Positive emotions have been shown to speed recovery from the physiological effects of negative emotions, to improve broad-minded coping skills and to prevent relapses.
These advances in the literature confirm that much has already been accomplished in the field and that practitioners can now confidently and effectively integrate positive psychology interventions into their daily practices.
At the completion of this one-day workshop, participants will:
- Be able to apply Positive Psychology and Mindfulness for the treatment of depression and the increase of well-being for clients who feel directionless, stuck and languishing
- Be able to integrate the following Positive Psychology Interventions into a program for depression: Forgiveness, Personal Strengths, Positive Emotions, Learned Optimism and Hope Therapy, Gratitude and Acceptance and Flow.
Miguel's warmth, passion, vast array of experience, combined with his genuine interest and knowledge in this area, will ensure you are armed with the practical skills and up-to-date, cutting-edge research to successfully apply Positive Psychology Interventions to your therapy.
