Let's Beat Counting Sheep! Conquering Sleep Post Trauma

Format Workshop
Presenters Donna Zander
Description Sleep disruption is both a strategy and an effect of violence and abuse which profoundly effects the lives of mothers and their children. This workshop traces the interconnections between the patterns of sleeping (not sleeping) for women and children living with and recovering from the effects of violence and abuse. Many children experience nightmares, bed-wetting, night panics and disrupted sleep patterns following trauma. Recovery of the ability to sleep is often slow and uneven with interactive effects between women and children slowing progress. The workshop will explore strategies for dealing with insomnia, night awakenings, nightmares and bedwetting and aims to improve children's night time happenings and help them to make all their dreams come true!
