Redbank House Conference 2012

Format Conference
Presenters Dr Laurie MacKinnon. Jenny Brown, Margaret Goldfinch
Description 'What does it mean to work systemically?'
By exploring this deceptively simple question from a number of angles, the 2012 Redbank House Conference presents an opportunity to think further about the idea of systemic work, while increasing awareness of the nuanced (and sometimes marked) differences between various systemic approaches. In engaging with the thinking and practice of others, clinicians will find an opportunity to scrutinise, challenge and renew their own assumptions about working systemically, to think about their own practice with rigour as well as curiosity.
About the presenter(s) Dr Laurie MacKinnon is in private practice, providing counselling for individuals, couples and families; supervision and training for couple and family therapists and mediators; consultation to many counselling and government organisations. Having presented and published nationally and internationally, Laurie recently received the Distinguished Contribution to Family Therapy Theory and Practice Award from The American Family Therapy Academy.
Jenny Brown is Director of the Family Systems Institute, Sydney, which provides training in Bowen family systems theory. Jenny is a clinical social worker with 30 years experience, including substantial national and international post graduate training in family therapy and systemic supervision (USA and UK). Jenny has published on applications of Bowen theory, including the book "Growing Yourself Up" which was published this year.
Margaret Goldfinch is a Senior Clinical Psychologist and Head of the Early Childhood Unit Redbank. With more than 25 years experience working with children, adolescents and families in schools, health and family settings, Margaret provides supervision, consultation and training to allied health, education and community sector staff. In 2009 she published, "Putting Humpty Together Again: working with parents to help children who have experienced trauma" (ANZJFT).
