Description Suicide Prevention Australia is excited to announce the Annual National Suicide Prevention Conference 2012 titled Innovation in Suicide Prevention - Bringing it Together. The conference will take place on the 11th and 12th of October, in the beautiful city of Sydney at the coast side Crowne Plaza Coogee Beach.

The conference themes will include (but not be limited to):
-Workplace Suicide Prevention
-Public Health
-Community Awareness and Education
-Sector Coordination
-Technology / Youth and Innovation
-Indigenous Suicide Prevention
-GLBTI Suicide Prevention
-Postvention
-Lived experience of suicide

The conference seeks to provide a forum to bring together researchers, practitioners, policy makers, industry and those with a lived experience in order to break down (perceived) divisions between these groups; and provide a common platform for all representatives engaged in the field of suicide prevention and crisis intervention to share and exchange knowledge, skills and experiences; and facilitate the development of a cohesive, united, and responsive suicide prevention sector.

We will be developing a program that includes extensive delegate involvement - we want this to be an interactive experience that sets a new benchmark for this type of conference.

Notes Dr. Thomas Joiner will be holding a Pre-Conference Workshop during the day on Wednesday 10th October. The workshop will cover his latest book "Lonely at the Top: The High Cost of Men's Success". The workshop will be openly promoted to the general public so places will fill quickly. The Pre Conference Workshop and Welcome Reception on 10 October are included in the conference registration fee.
