| Description | Integral Vision Australia's 'Assisting Clients with Pain: The Psychological Fundamentals' workshop is designed to improve the knowledge and skills of health practitioners who work with clients who experience pain - in formal and informal settings. Upon completion of the one-day workshop, you will be able to: - Discuss current theories of pain - Discuss psychological factors that affect acute and chronic pain - Understand the physiological and psychological interaction in chronic pain - Understand how some people develop complex disability because of pain and what maintains this disability - Identify and address the factors that may complicate a client's ability to cope with pain - Disseminate up to date information about pain and implement effective communication strategies to inform patients on how to manage their own pain - Develop an understanding of a cognitive-behavioural-motivational framework of the psychology of pain - Discuss recent innovations, including exposure and acceptance skills and techniques - Help clients optimise their health and improve daily function by working with them to find solutions to the problems caused by pain Miguel's warmth, passion, vast array of experience, combined with his genuine interest and knowledge in this area, will ensure you are armed with the practical skills and up-to-date research to successfully improve your knowledge and skills in the psychological management of pain. |
