Presenters Emeritus Professor David Howe
Description Understanding how children's psychological selves form in the context of early care-giving relationships is critical to understanding the effects of child maltreatment and its consequences for longer term development. With deepened understanding of how abusive and neglectful parenting affects children's development, behaviour, and longer term mental health, professionals are better equipped to make accurate assessments and design interventions more in tune with the needs of both children and their carers.
About the presenter(s) David Howe is Emeritus Professor of Social Work at the University of East Anglia, Norwich and the author of over 20 books, including the popular titles 'Child Abuse and Neglect: Attachment, Development & Intervention' and 'Attachment Across the Lifecourse'. This workshop represents a rare opportunity to hear a globally recognised name in the area of attachment and developmental.
