The APS People with Intellectual and/or Developmental Disability and Psychology Interest Group are organising 2 Webinars. This is the second webinar. (29th November 2012):5pm to 6.30pm AEDT Is entitled "Clinical and service guidelines informing competencies for supporting adults with intellectual disability whose behaviour is challenging". Dr Bush will guide us through the key points in various guidelines that have recently been developed in the UK; including "The unified approach" developed with collaboration between the British Psychological Society, the Royal College of Psychiatrists and the Royal College of Speech & Language therapists, as well as the "BPS Learning Disability Practice Guidelines", and the recently developed "NICE guidance for practice". APS ENDORSED: 1.5 hours The first webinar(31st October 2012): 12 noon to 1.30pm AEDT Is entitled "Challenging Behaviour: State of the Science informing our practice". In this webinar, Eric will provide a synopsis based on his new book: Emerson, E., & Einfeld, S., (2011). Challenging behaviour, 3rd Edition. Cambridge, UK. This involves an evaluation of the state of scientific knowledge in relation to the causes of challenging behaviour among young people with intellectual disabilities. Implications for policy and practice will also be explored.
