|Presenters||Michael Hawton MAPS (or various presenters)|
|Description||Engaging Adolescents is a one-day professional development course to teach parents the skills for resolving teenage behaviour problems. This course is suitable for parenting professionals who work with teenagers and their families.
This one-day course equips professionals with:
? The knowledge to teach parents the program over three sessions and/or how to teach the tenets of the program in a few one-to-one clinical sessions
? A comprehensive training manual and a CD slideshow to aid your presentation
? Session-by-session guidelines for parent meetings
Lunch and am/pm refreshments are also provided.
The structure of this course provides parents with a model for working out what behaviour needs to be ignored, how to coach teenagers to consider the consequences of their actions and how to hold difficult conversations when expectations are breached. A practical 'how-to' guide for parents.
Engaging Adolescents has been endorsed by the APS for 7 CPD hours (generalist or College of Community Psychologist, College of Counselling Psychologists, College of Educational or Developmental Psychologists).
This course also fulfils the requirements for 'active pd' with the Psychology Board of Australia.
