Psychology of the Internet

Format Seminar/Presentation
Presenters Dr Tom Benjamin, Alem Mirvich, and Theo Thomas
Description Few science fiction writers predicted it. Yet in a decade it has appeared and become the key psychological entity of the new century - the Internet. Psychologists wishing to build a presence in cyberspace need to become aware of personal branding and search engine optimisation -ie- the psychology of the Internet itself. This seminar assumes some basic Web familiarity and goes on to show how to mix free and affordable tools to reach and engage local and even international audiences.
About the presenter(s) Dr Tom Benjamin (tom-dot.com) is a psychologist and demographer. He has presented workshops for Australian psychologists since the early days of PCs. In recent years he has worked as a research officer in learning and innovation. His websites for online game delivery and multimedia have received international attention. Typing 'movie tom' or 'tv tom' in most search engines finds him at page #1. He will discuss personal branding and applications to psychological practices.

Alem Mirvich, director of Melbourne Signs, is an expert in the use of brief key word- laden messages. Nowhere are these more important than in signs. A split second misreading can cause a car accident or explosion. A business can rise or fall on the strength of a few words in a sign. Alem is a heavy user of the social web with over 30,000 followers online. He will cover the practical applications of sign psychology.

Theo Thomas is a specialist in Search Engine Optimisation for professionals and small businesses ... etc. His presentation is titled "How to Get More Business" and he will cover and answer questions on how to fix your existing website to attract more customers, target visitors in individual suburbs, increase the enquiry rate from your website, improve your ranking on Google, Yahoo & Bing, effectively track all new leads and customers, deal will any customer fe
