| Description | In July 2012, Elaine Hosie was invited by the Counselling Division of the British Psychological Society to be part of an international forum on counselling psychology. She will report on counselling psychology internationally, the significance for counselling psychology in Australia and the international alliance formed at that meeting. The evening will also be the perfect occasion for the College to present its yearly awards for best Doctoral and Master's theses in Counselling Psychology, as well as an opportunity for networking with your fellow College members. |
| About the presenter(s) | Elaine Hosie is an endorsed Counselling Psychologist currently working in private practice. Her work is informed by object relations theory and the impact of life events on the ongoing development of the self. She is also a registered teacher and has spent much of her professional career working in the education sector both at tertiary and secondary levels. She is a fellow of the Australian Psychological Society. Elaine has been involved in the College of Counselling Psychologists for 20 years: initially on the Victorian Branch Committee as Professional Development Coordinator, later on the National Executive as Convenor of the Professional Development Committee, and for the last five years, until 2011, as National Chair. She has also worked on many other committees of the APS, such as the Professional Development Advisory Group (PDAG), the College Chairs Forum, the Psychologists in Schools Reference Group, the Membership Retention Advisory Group, the Members grievances working party, and a working party about politically sensitive domains for counseling psychology. |
