Pub Discussion & Christmas Celebrations: Psychological Dietetics and Dietetic Psychology
|Presenters||Jani White & Jo Gibson|
|Description||The end of year is fast approaching and it would be lovely to celebrate with some food and drinks. Please come along at 6:30pm for drinks and Christmas celebrations followed by the AGM at 7pm. The pub discussion presentation will follow at 7:15pm. The presentations covers the following:
People with eating disorders are almost exclusively treated by teams who are if not physically in the room at the same, time certainly hold a substantial presence in all transactions of treatment. Eating disorder services are generally multi disciplinary services that draw together the expertise of dieticians, medical staff and a range of other allied health staff whose expertise is principally psychological; individual and family. Efforts are made to ensure that people with eating disorders treated in the community are managed by similarly composed teams. This spread of responsibility of care hopefully optimises service for sufferers and it also frees practitioners to work with sufferers within their area of expertise while managing risk. This presentation will not challenge this treatment paradigm but it will focus on meta considerations for practitioners and challenge the lines between disciplines in what is hopefully a sometimes light-hearted exploration of what it means to be a psychological dietician or a dietetic provider of psychological services and how this is central to establishing collaborative treatment goals with clients.
