Fundamentals of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT): V2 2014

Event number: 14601
10 CPD hours
APS Institute CPD

The original version of this course, CBT Fundamentals: Processes and Techniques in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, was developed jointly by the Australian Psychological Society (APS), the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), and Occupational Therapy Australia (OTA) with funding from the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing (DoHA) as part of the Better Access to Mental Health Care through the Medicare Benefits Schedule initiative.

In addition to providing training for psychologists in the applications of CBT, the course also delivers training for practitioners registered to provide Focused Psychological Strategies (FPS) Medicare items who are required to demonstrate compliance with the mandatory hours of CPD required for maintaining billing rights to provide those Medicare services.

The course has been subsequently revised by the APS Institute to ensure the training is based on current research and developments in the field of CBT. The new course consists of seven (7) modules covering the fundamental principles underpinning CBT, ethical considerations, culturally and linguistically diverse applications, client assessment, case conceptualisation, structure of therapy, behaviourally focused interventions, cognitively focused interventions, behavioural experiments, and core belief work.

Course content is arranged in self-paced modules. Each module includes a printable learning guide, online video demonstrations, interactive activities, readings and other relevant resources to facilitate active CPD.

Duration of enrolment

The course duration is 6 months from the date of your course registration.
