The first 2017 Brisbane Area branch general meeting will be on 1st March at 6.15pm for 6.30pm start. The meeting will close at 8.30pm
This meeting will include Dr Aaron Frost as the guest speaker. Aaron was recently elected to the position of non-executive director of the Australian Psychological Society and is working with the other directors and the APS executive to push a much stronger psychology position to government. In this presentation Aaron will give a round up of some of the big issues currently facing the APS as well as sharing facts, rumours and gossip from government on how these issues might play out in the coming years.
- Knowledge of the current strategic direction of the APS
General meetings are typically held on the first Wednesday of every second month (2017: May, July, September, November). Meetings are open to all members, and new branch members are particularly welcome. This is an opportunity to meet the branch executive; hear about national and local events, activities, and initiatives; express your opinions; and to meet and network with other psychologists.
Minutes of the previous branch meetings are available on the branch website: http://www.groups.psychology.org.au/brisbane/. This is a restricted area: members will need to enter their membership number and password (typically your surname).
Light food will be provided during the meeting, and drinks can be purchased during the evening.
Dr Aaron Frost is the owner and lead psychologist of Benchmark Psychology, a Brisbane practice working to quantify the health and economic benefit of psychology. He has a long interest in outcome evaluation, and the economics of health policy and believes mental health outgoings need to be viewed as investment rather than expenditure in government budgets.
