The International Centre for Excellence in EFT has established this four-day externship: Fundamentals of EFT as the starting place for all formal training in EFT for Couples. The workshop provides understanding of the application of attachment and emotion theories to couples' distress, outlines the steps and stages of the EFT model and the EFT interventions. The three key change events identified by research to move couples from insecurity to security will be explained. The workshop will include a mix of didactic presentations, viewing of EFT tapes and clips to demonstrate aspect of EFT couples' therapy, and provide opportunities for role play practice. A live consultation with a couple from the community will occur if possible. Reading resources will be supplied.
At completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- conceptualise relationship distress through an attachment lens,
- understand the steps, stages and change events of the EFT model,
- demonstrate basic skills in the EFT interventions.
Reading resources will provide opportunity for participants to understand the research underpinning the model, and access some articles and book chapters that further expound of EFT for Couples.
