Supervision for endorsement: Advanced skills trainings and evaluating registrars

This topic deals with the requirements for establishing a Board approved supervision plan for endorsement and with methods of developing core competencies through registrar supervision that are consistent with the expertise expected of entry-level endorsed practitioners. Methods for developing and evaluating registrars’ advanced skills relating to the core competencies (as per the Psychology Board of Australia’s Guidelines on Areas of Practice Endorsement) are provided. The role of supervisors in developing registrars’ CPD programs is also canvassed.

Prerequisite requirements

Master Class, Part 4 is only available to psychologists who are already Board approved supervisors (principal or secondary). Psychologists who do not meet this criterion should not apply. Applicants’ general registration status, date of first registration, area/s of endorsement, and existence of conditions, undertakings or reprimands will be verified independently against data available on the Board’s Register of Practitioners and their Board approved supervisor status will be verified against the Board’s list of approved supervisors. The APS Institute will notify the Board if there is a discrepancy between information regarding eligibility that has been provided by the enrolee and information contained on the Register of Practitioners.
