APS SA Port Lincoln Weekend Symposium

Event number: 18875
9 CPD hours
Presenter(s): Dr Tim Connell, Richard Balfour, and Dr Peyman Bakhtiarian

The APS SA Branch is proud to present a child, adolescent, and ATSI culturally focused weekend symposium in Port Lincoln on the 25th and 26th August 2017.

Learning outcomes

  • to increase knowledge about the complexities of the NDIS
  • widen awareness of resources available for this important client group
  • improve skills for working within a culturally diverse society
  • increase confidence in diagnosis and response to the difficult areas of ADD/ADHD and autism

Attendees can expect to come away with improved skills, knowledge of resources to support their work, having had the opportunity to discuss these matters with experienced practitioners.

We hope that members from the Adelaide metropolitan and other regional areas will come along to join us on the last weekend of August together with our professional colleagues from the Eyre Peninsula. It is shaping up to be an exciting knowledge sharing weekend with plenty of networking and recreational opportunities too!

Initiative Rationale - This is part of a new initiative that we have developed to better engage and support our rural and remote members, and to continuously provide quality CPD to all members at a cost competitive rate. Our professional colleagues from rural and remote regions provide such a valuable service to the community often with limited acknowledgement or support from the wider profession. So, we hope this will be an annual symposium run by the SA Branch committee and the idea is that in the future, we will be hosting a CPD weekend in one SA rural and remote region every year, beginning with the Eyre Peninsula in 2017
