Presenter(s): Associate Professor Damien Riggs

Associate Professor Damien Riggs will provide an overview of diversity amongst transgender young people, explore research findings on the experiences of young people and their parents with educational psychologists, and outline best practice considerations for working with transgender young people and their families. This presentation will be followed by the AGM for the SA CEDP.

At the end of this presentation, particpants will:

1. Have an understanding of gender diversity amongst young people.

2. Be aware of affirming approaches to working with transgender young people.

About the presenter(s)

Associate Professor Damien Riggs is an Australian Research Council Future Fellow at Flinders University, President of the Australian Critical Race and Whiteness Studies Association and a Fellow of the APS, where he is also the National Convenor of the APS Interest Group on gay and lesbian issues and the editor of its journal, the Gay and Lesbian Issues and Psychology Review. He has authored over 200 publications on gender, sexuality, family and mental health. He also works in private practice as a Lacanian psychotherapist.
