PsyBA Master Class: Applying Systemic Practice in Supervision

This 6 hour face to face workshop is for existing Board approved supervisors seeking to maintain Board-approved supervisor status for a further five years. This one day workshop is designed to facilitate experienced supervisors in the practice of systemic supervision.  Participants will gain knowledge on theory and practice of systems models in assessment, formulation and treatment and learn how to integrate systemic thinking in clinical supervision. The workshop will explore ways to stimulate supervisee’s personal and professional development through reflective tasks, exploring emotions and patterns in relationships and considering the organisational context and relevant stakeholders. The workshop will look at placing relationships at the heart of the supervisory and therapeutic encounter. 

Workshop content includes:

        Systemic theory and application to supervision

        How to use genograms and work systemically in clinical practice and supervision

        Live demonstration of systems practice in supervision

        Small group practice of systemic approaches to supervision, incorporating reflective practice and the use of genograms/organisational ecograms in supervision

        Recognising and managing parallel process in supervision and applying reflective practice within a systemic framework

        Mindful approaches to gatekeeping and awareness of power in systemic supervision

·         Developing contextually informed best practice in systemic supervision

·         Providing systems-oriented clinical supervision in agency settings

        Small group activities and case discussions. 


About the presenter(s)

Christine Senediak, is Principal Director of Clinical Supervision Services and has over 30 years of experience working as a clinical psychologist, educator and supervisor. She has a strong interest in evidence based practice, reflective practice and systems theory and integrates this in her work as therapist, educator and supervisor.
