The workshop will discuss and present the most advanced theoretical and practical developments in the field of CBT for anxiety and depression (including psychotic symptoms), in relationship with the classical evidence-based approaches. An Integrative and Multimodal CBT (IM-CBT) perspective will be used (i.e., first stage behavioral-second stage cognitive-third stage neobehavioral/mindfulness-acceptance-fourth stage technological clinical cognitive neurogenetic science). The use of virtual reality therapy and robot-based psychotherapy will be introduced.

Learning outcomes

At the end of the workshop participants will

  • Be aware of the fundamentals of anxiety and depression (including psychotic symptoms)
  • Be aware of what is IM-CBT.
  • Have an understanding of virtual reality therapy and robot-based therapy.
  • Be aware of what is a personalized evidence-based IM-CBT protocol for anxiety and depression (including psychotic symptoms).

Procedurally at the end of the workshop participants will have knowledge regarding

  • How to use advanced IM-CBT techniques/strategies for anxiety and depression (including psychotic symptoms).
  • How to use virtual environments and robots in the IM-CBT therapeutic packages for anxiety and depression (including psychotic symptoms).
  • How to create personalized evidence-based IM-CBT clinical protocols for anxiety and depression (including psychotic symptoms).

About the presenter(s)

Daniel David, Ph.D., is director of research and a supervisor in REBT/CBT at the Albert Ellis Institute, USA and a supervisor in CBT at the Academy of Cognitive Therapy, USA.

He worked with both Albert Ellis and Aaron T. Beck and he holds the Aaron T. Beck Professorship at Babes-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca, Romania.

Dr. David is the President/Director of the International Institute for the Advanced Studies of Psychotherapy and Applied Mental Health, as well as an adjunct professor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York, USA.

Dr. David is the founding editor of the Journal of Cognitive Behavioral Psychotherapies/Journal of Evidence-Based Psychotherapies and the founding director of the “Babes-Bolyai – PsyTech” Psychological Clinic.

He is a national representative in the European Association of Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies and he was the president of the 9th Congress of the International Association of Cognitive Psychotherapy (http://www.iccp2017.org/).

Dr. David has authored and co-authored numerous theoretical and practical books and book chapters.
