Psychological treatment of adults with OCD

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a chronic and long-lasting disorder in which a person has uncontrollable, reoccurring thoughts (obsessions) and behaviours (compulsions) that they feel compelled to repeat over and over. This 3-hour workshop gives a brief overview of the psychological treatment of adults with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. This workshop covers the practical aspects of treatment by demonstrating a formulation and treatment plan for a client with OCD. Pitfalls and obstacles to treatment will be discussed. 
Learning Objectives
At the completion of this course, participants will have:
  • Improved understanding of conceptualising clients with OCD
  • Greater confidence in developing a treatment plan
  • Awareness of the “pitfalls” and obstacles to treatment

About the presenter(s)

Dr Emily O’Leary is a Clinical Psychologist and the founder and Director of two psychology clinics, The OCD Clinic Brisbane and Anxiety House. Emily is best known for her work in the treatment of Obsessive Compulsive Disorders and Anxiety Disorders. With a PhD in Psychology, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Clinical Psychology and a BA Honours in Psychology, Emily is relatable in her approach to clients and families. Emily is a popular speaker across worldwide radio, online and print media, including ABC Radio, ACA, Today Tonight and Courier Mail. As a regular columnist for Mindfood, Emily is committed to raising awareness of the complexity of health conditions such as OCD and Anxiety and share the success she’s had with her evidence-based treatments. Emily provides specialist training and supervision to other psychologists nationally and internationally. She presented three symposiums on OCD at the World Congress in Boston in 2010. Emily is a Member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS); a Member of Australian Psychological Society; the College of Clinical Psychologists (CClin); the Psychology Board of Australia; a Professional Member of the International Obsessive-Compulsive Disorders Foundation (IOCDF); and a Board Approved Supervisor (Clinical Psychology).


Registrants may be seated from 1pm. The seminar starts at 1.30pm and ends promptly at 5pm. Please advise us if you cannot attend as we pay for the afternoon tea for those who do not cancel. Thanks !
