Psychological treatment reports submitted as evidence to Family Law Courts.

Event number: 19293
3.5 CPD hours
Workshop
Presenter(s): Dr Don Tustin

Following the introduction of the Better Access programme, more separated parents seek psychological therapy to help them to address criticisms of their parenting made by their ex-partner or by a family assessor.  Parents ask for treatment reports to help them improve their parenting and access to their child.  As well, the Commonwealth Government has announced a review of the Family Law Act that will increase the role of psychologists in resolving disputes between separated parents.

Learning Outcomes

Participants will be:

  • well informed about amendments to Australia's Family Law Act since 2006
  • informed about issues where separated families commonly seek psychological therapy, and
  • informed about draft Guidelines for Mental Health Therapists who submit treatment reports to a Family Law Court.
