|---|---|
| Format | Training Course |
| Presenters | Dr Susan Lewis |
| Description | The course is designed for psychologists and other practitioners with supervisory responsibilities. It aims to increase the participants ability to gain knowledge of a wide range of theories relevant to supervision by drawing upon a range of evidence-based psychological, managerial, systems and psycho-analytically based theories. Participants will broaden their capacity to apply theory to practice through hands on experience in supervision and observation and analysis of others in the practice of supervision. The goal is for each participant to enhance their self awareness, reflect and evaluate their practice, to recognize stress, anxiety and unhelpful thought processes, family history and the impact of structure and culture on practice. Participants will study a range of models of practice, develop an understanding of their own style, their comfort/discomfort with authority, use and abuse of power and be responsible for developing their own learning goals. There is an emphasis throughout the course on developing creativity and critical thinking by exposing participants to a range of in depth situations encountered in practice. This course is in its 29th year with numerous organizations repeatedly sending managers year after year. |
