Beyond Sage Advice: working with very challenging children and their families

Format Seminar/Presentation
Presenters Angela Davis
Description Psychologists are frequently asked to provide advice and assistance to families and school systems when usual strategies have been unsuccessful and they are struggling to manage challenging behaviours. Often we are expected to provide "therapy" to "fix" the child.
This seminar will examine:
contextual issues in the development of very challenging behaviours in children and young adolescents including predisposing and protective factors
 information required for case conceptualisation
formulation of a prioritised multifaceted model for intervention.
Case studies will be used to operationalise the intervention framework
