The APS offers a range of Awards each year that encourage and recognise excellence in psychology. Refer below for further information on each Award, including eligibility and nomination process details.

Distinguished Scientific Contribution Award  The APS Prize 

Pearson Education and APS Early Career Teaching Award 

The Award recognises distinguished theoretical or empirical contributions to psychology by psychologists at mid or later career stage. The contribution may lead to the understanding or amelioration of an important practical problem, although this is not required. The nominee will be currently engaged (directly or indirectly) in innovative research, which represents a major influence on the direction of research in the scientist's area. Awards may be in any field. Each year a maximum of one Award will be conferred.

The APS Prize is awarded to the student who gained first place at the end of an APS-accredited program of four years’ duration leading to a single qualification, or an APS-accredited fourth year program in psychology comprising one year equivalent of study. One APS Prize will be given at each institution that has independent membership of the Australian Vice-Chancellors' Committee and has an APS-accredited program in psychology.

The APS in partnership with Pearson Education recognises excellence in teaching psychology in Australian Universities from academics in the early stages of their career. This Award is designed to encourage developing teachers who show potential for excellence. The award is intended to recognise individuals whose skill and commitment to teaching and promotion of student learning places them significantly ahead of their peers.

Distinguished Contribution to Education Award  Early Career Research Awards  Award for Excellent PhD Thesis in Psychology 

The Award recognises distinguished contributions to psychology education in Australia. The contribution can be at any level of the education system, and is not restricted to teaching psychology to students of psychology or psychologists.

The APS recognises excellence in scientific achievement in psychology among psychologists who are at early stages of their research careers by awarding Early Career Research Awards. The Award is intended for individuals whose achievements stemming from their PhDs and work completed since their PhDs were confirmed are outstanding and place them significantly ahead of their peers. Each year, up to three Awards will be conferred.
