The APS offers a range of awards each year that encourage and recognise excellence in psychology. Refer below for further information on each award, including eligibility and nomination process details.

President's Award for Distinguished Contribution to Psychology in Australia

The Award recognises distinguished contributions to psychology in Australia by psychologists at later career stage. The contribution must have made a difference to psychology and the Australian community as a whole. The nominee’s work must meet the mission statement for the Society: namely, “to represent, promote and advance psychology and psychologists within the context of improving community well-being and scientific knowledge”. Distinguished Contribution to Psychological Science Award

The Distinguished Contribution to Psychological Science Award recognises distinguished theoretical or empirical contributions to psychology by psychologists at mid or later career stages. The contribution may lead to the understanding or amelioration of an important practical problem. View details 

Distinguished Contribution to Psychological Education Award 

The Distinguished Contribution to Psychological Education Award recognises outstanding contribution to the education of psychologists over and extended period, in Australia. View details

Early Career Research Award

The Early Career Research Award recognises excellence in scientific achievement in psychology among psychologists who are at early stages of their research careers. The Early Career Research Award is intended for candidates whose achievements are outstanding, and place them significantly ahead of their peers. View details

Early Career Teaching Award 

The Early Career Teaching Award encourages developing teachers in the early stages of their career in Australian Universities who show potential for excellence and is intended to recognise candidates whose skill and commitment to teaching in psychology, and promotion of student learning, places them significantly ahead of their peers. View details

Award for Excellent PhD Thesis in Psychology

The Award for an Excellent PhD Thesis is offered for the purpose of encouraging and rewarding outstanding research in psychology. The Award may be offered at each Australian tertiary institution that has independent membership of the Australian Vice-Chancellors' Committee and has an appropriate APAC-accredited program. View details

APS Prize* 

The APS Prize recognises excellence in Psychology. One annual APS Prize will be offered at each tertiary institution that has independent membership of the Australian Vice-Chancellors' Committee and has an APAC-accredited program in psychology of four (4) years duration or an APAC-accredited fourth year program in psychology comprising one (1) year equivalent study, or both. View details
