Objectives

The award aims to inspire students with artistic talent to use creative ways of communicating a key message about peace, and to encourage young artists, their peers, their families, teachers and the wider viewing public to consider ways of promoting peace in their own lives. The award is made biennially to a secondary school student in years 10-12 in Western Australia.

Value

  • 1st Prize: $500 for student and $500 for school
  • 2nd Prize: $250 for student
  • Highly Commended: Two prizes of $100
  • Participation certificates

as selected by an independent panel of judges.

An Interest Group of the Australian Psychological Society

Psychologists for Peace is a not-for-profit Interest Group of the Australian Psychological Society. Its members are psychologists who are concerned about the prevalence of war and conflict in our world and are interested in applying their professional skills to issues relating to promoting peace and preventing war. This is the third Biennial Peace Exhibition and Award and is a project of the Western Australian group.

Psychologists for Peace is very grateful to the Medical Association for Prevention of War and the Art Education Association of Western Australia for supporting this project.
