Health insurance rebates

Most private health insurers offer rebates on psychological services. To claim a rebate:

Patients need to be covered by ancillary benefits insurance (extras table)
The psychologist needs to be approved by the health insurance fund.
Some health funds also require a medical referral.

Rebates vary based on your level of cover. The tables below list private health insurers offering rebates for psychological services in each State or Territory. The column entitled 'Rebate Information for Practitioners' summarises rebates and does not include maximum claims per year. For specific details, please visit the insurers' websites.

Please note that this list is not comprehensive and information is correct as at March 2005. You are advised to contact the insurer for their latest information.
