As a leading professional body within Australia's multicultural society, the APS is proud of the diversity of its membership. It might interest you to know that more than 70 languages are spoken by APS members.

From time to time we are asked how many Aboriginal members we have, or how far our membership reflects the cultural diversity of the Australian population, or what trends are evident in the changing cultural profile of our membership. Unfortunately, we don't have the complete picture.

Our membership database contains information taken from your membership application form, on your age, your gender, your location, your area of employment, your contact details but not on your ethnic identification. All of this information is subject to privacy legislation, and we take our commitment to protecting your privacy very seriously. Your individual personal information will not be disclosed, and will only be used for aggregate membership profiles in a de-identified manner.

2004 Cultural Survey

In early 2004 the APS collected information on ethnic identification from existing members, and is now approaching new and upgrading members. The cultural survey below is intended to further reduce the cultural gap in our membership profile. To obtain an accurate picture, we would appreciate the fullest co-operation from all members, but you are under no obligation to answer any of the questions. Please return the completed form to the APS, marked attention 'Membership'. Any queries or concerns about the survey can be directed to Membership Services at membership@psychology.org.au.
