Psychology Week is an annual APS initiative that aims to increase public awareness of how psychology can help people and communities lead healthier, happier and more meaningful lives.
In 2016 the Australian Psychological Society introduces the Compass for Life, a campaign that will help Australians measure and improve their happiness and wellbeing by promoting Ways to thrive.
Research from the field of positive psychology has shown that five key pillars (positive emotions, engagement, relationships, meaning and accomplishment) underpin our psychological wellbeing, and by focusing on these aspects of life we can improve our health, happiness and satisfaction with life.
During #psychweek, the Australian Psychological Society will measure Australians wellbeing and life satisfaction to see how they are faring and offer strategies - #waystothrive - to help Australians build their own wellbeing toolkit.
Annually hundreds of #psychweek events are hosted across Australia. Again in 2016, the APS invites its members and the public to host and participate in events that bring psychology to the community, and to share their #waystothrive via events and social media.
