APAC standards

The APS and the Council of Psychologists Registration Boards (Australasia) signed an agreement in November 2003 to establish the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC).

APAC is the body that will assess and approve the minimum qualifications from recognised schools of psychology for the purposes of registration as a psychologist in Australia and for membership of the Australian Psychological Society.

The APAC standards include:

  • Procedures for program development and accreditation
  • General requirements for accreditation
  • Undergraduate program requirements
  • Postgraduate program requirements
  • Higher research degree programs
  • Appeals procedures.
