Self-care for psychologists

Event number: 19074
1.5 CPD hours
APS Institute CPD

Working as a psychologist can be highly rewarding, yet the demanding nature of psychological practice can also place psychologists at risk of experiencing burnout and their own mental health concerns. Therefore, it is essential for psychologists to look after themselves and practice regular self-care, not only for their own emotional wellbeing, but also to help ensure they are providing the best psychological care for their clients.

This short course has been developed by the Australian Psychological Society to help support the self-care practices of psychologists. It will provide you with information about the meaning and importance of self-care and will highlight the main barriers impacting on a psychologist’s ability to undertake regular self-care. A self-care toolkit will help you to assess your own self-care needs and develop your own self-care plan. You will be provided with a range of useful resources and references to help support your ongoing self-care as a psychologist.

Duration of enrolment

The course duration is 6 months from the date of your course registration.
